有別於一般的air-king date,
此特殊面盤上面的字體是 EXPLORER DATE
一般的explorer dial 5501, 5506 or 5500,
都是北美加拿大或是少有特殊販售地區才見的到蹤影,
但是一般大家最常見到的AIR-KING EXPLORER 黑面都是ref: 1002, 5500 後翻寫面 假貨居多 (一般來說 cal.1570幾乎都是假的),
最容易辨識的方法就是標準的柳葉針以及面盤12點鍾方向最上方有小小的凹缺點(有些有 有些沒有)
面盤上方的 1. ROLEX 2.OYSTER PERPETUAL 3.EXPLORER 4.DATE 四行字
或是 1.ROLEX 2.OYSTER PERPETUAL 3.EXPLORER DATE 三行字

Vintage Rolex Explorer Date model 5700 with black dial circa 1960
This vintage Rolex Explorer Date is a rare beast.
The watch features a very attractive black dial with silver and gilt text. The words Rolex Oyster Perpetual are in gold type and the text, Explorer Date and Precision are printed in silver type. The dial also features steel arrowhead markers and steel dauphine shaped hands. Note the slight patina on the dial visible in the photos.
The movement fitted in the watch is a rugged workhorse from Rolex, the calibre 1530 automatic wind 25 jewel movement. The watch was just serviced by my Rolex trained watchmaker and is keeping excellent time.
The caseback is free of any engraving and has an inside date code of 1.60 indicating that it was produced in the first quarter of 1960. The serial number in the 500,000 range suggests a production date of late 1959 or 1960
The watch measures 34.5mm wide by 43 mm long and is supplied on a vintage Rolex Oyster bracelet.
