Sorry about the poor quality of the picture. I had sent my watch already, so difficult to take the picture again. After waiting for a few weeks, I had received official reply from Patek Philippe Service Center. Their proposal is to replace the dial and do a overhaul. Here are their comments: ---- The things that can be done to prevent your timepiece from this oxidation in the future are to bring it back to one of our Service Centres for watertightness check every 1 or 2 years and to bring it for a routine service every 4 or 5 years. The case gasket can actually be damaged by heat or cold exposure (or both of them alternatively) which will enable water to enter and damage the movement. This is probably what happened to your timepiece, this is why we recommend this watertightness check every 1 or 2 years. ---- Since I did overhaul my watch every 4-5 years, Patek is kind enough to offer the dial replacement as a gesture of good will. I had accept the proposal and will get my watch back in Oct. 2008. I will share the image, after receiving the watch. Thanks a lot for your help and support. |
