各位先進,
Someone offered me a vintage Rolex Sub 5513 (L-series, from around 1990). It's the last of the acrylic crystal Subs with the slow-beat 1500-series movement. The guy said the condition is Near Mint. My question is, where can I research the price? I just need to know how much I can get if I don't like it and if I want to sell it afterward.
Thanks.

Usually 5512 worth a little more than 5513!
Anyhow it’s very difficult to say “what’s a fair or good price for a vintage piece.” There is a Rolex price list that the US pawn shop dealers use to show customer. The price is based on serial number, model, and conditions of the watch. (Which is not 100% accurate but it gives you an idea how much you can sell the watch by yourself) I saw that but I don't have the copy. I think there is also a book you check the price..but I am not 100% sure! You should also check the E-bay and TimeZone for the price. So at least you will know how 5513’s current market is! |

Thanks BB!!!
I checked TZ already, but it's a bit hard to gauge, b/c the condition are all varied. So it's not as fixed as the recent subs. I'll check ebay later today. I've never owned a Rolex, and this one actually looks interesting on pictures. The "vintage" look actually brings a different feel to the watch. At this point, I don't have plans to keep it even I end up trading for it, so I kind of need to know the price. |

Well, if I ended up getting it, it should be a 面交.
btw, the guy said everything is original EXCEPT the case back, which he swapped it with a 5512, b/c he didn't like a tool mark on the original. Now, how much does it hurt its value? With my limited knowledge on vintage Rolex, I know everything should be original, but I'm not sure how much a swapped caseback hurt. 請各位大大指教!! He also doesn't have paper. |

you probably can sent the watch to Rolex NY or Rolex LA to overhaul it!
You can also call them to find out the replacement cost. I think rolex put some information on the caseback...but not 100%sure. If you are not selling it in the future that's not a big deal! You also better find out will Rolex USA deny the service due to the switched case back? You also can ask seller where is the original case back? better come with it! good luck! |
