Etacca 兄, Actually, That is not true JLC and Panerai belongs to the same company Richemont Group (world' second largest luxury group, behind the LVMH) That is something I don't understand Richemont group (the parent comapny of Panerai) owns the following watch companies IWC Cartier Piaget JLC A. Lange & Sohne Vacherson Constantin JLC, IWC, A. Lange, VC, Piaget, they are all capable of making watch movments themselves, why they don't supply the movement to Panerai? and yet only the high priced model that carries the movements from those company ? |

Hmmm, I am confused. I thought that these few watch makers didn't work with each other even though they belonged to the same controlling entity. In such a way, the "boss" can pick the winners in the long run. But, phototalk123, you know better.
Was I right about the fact that it's the first time for combining Panerai case and JLC movement? I believed that Panerai used and modified ETA movements only. As for your question on Panerai using the "inhouse" movements, that's exactly why I was not interested in Panerai before. If Panerai can sell its watches based on cheap ETA movements, why does it need to use any high-end movement? Panerai "chose" to do so. Panerai built up its market share by fancy case designs and great marketing strategy - not great movements at all. While spending tons of money in building the brand, it needed to save money by using low-cost ETA movements. Well, just my two cents. |

Hmm, It is true that they work with JLC for the first time, I think (sorry, I am not expert in Panerai ) but they have used the following movements for their calibers Zenith El Primero in OP IV caliber Frédérique Piguet in OP V caliber Zenith El Primero again in OP VI caliber Zenith Elite in OP VII caliber and some Venus 175 in certian models. I would really like to see them to continue to use Zenith movement in their models, at least I think it is worth the price to pay for it. But for a better deal you can buy a Zenith Elite for about US 2,000 in Taipei, so half price. haha.... Anyway.... it is nice to discuss it with you and hope they the manufacure really get the message that people desire a better quality movement for the price they pay for it. I don't blame on ETA, but if the manufacture is charging a unresonable high price, and the end, smart shoppers will go else where. just my 2 cents Wish you have a great Mid-Autumn Festival day |

From Etacaa Bro..

You analyzed about the marketing strategy.. but, I still want to own a Panerai Watch.. and I also totally agree about == yym bro....Panerai should develop its own movements rather than just use the cheap ETA and sell it with sky high prices. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- In my opinion, THE reason is Cause Panerai rised in price at least $U.S. 300 FOR each watch... I didn't mention about some speciall stuffs... just only for normal model.... the price is rised by them... more and more ! they should do something more for customers |
