I have 5712G and 5980.
Both are in very high demand, but I think 5712 has a much better fit on wrist than 5980. 5980 is a bit thicker. To be honest, I don't use the chrono much. and the second hand doesn't move unless you run chrono on the 5980. Then again, you can't run chrono continuosly. 5712 has the small second hands which makes the watch more lively. |

Both fit my wrist well. 5712 is slightly more comfortable because of its thinner case. 5980 looks better to me and it is more sporty with its thicker case. The 5712 moonphase and date functions are useless because very difficult to read. The 5980 chrono function is also rarely used. The only useful function may be power reserve indicator for 5712 and date for 5980.
If money and availability are not a problem, I will go for 5980 but if you consider mainly the function and comfort, the 5711 may ba a good choice.

Both are selling at a premium to listed prices because of volumn control by the producer. If both can get at reasonable prices, 5980 shall be more unique.

US list price of 5980/1A US44100 and 5960P US78800. So 5960P is 78.7% more expensive than 5980/1A. |
